Back in Melbourne

I came back to Melbourne Sunday morning. It feels good to be back again, even though it’s only for a short while before heading back to Norway. Melbourne is starting to feel a lot like home now, so it feels sad having to leave. But hopefully I’ll be back here again in a few years time.

Anyhow, here’s what happened the last of couple days in Brisbane: On Friday, I went out to North Stradbroke Island (or ‘Straddie’ as the locals call it), and saw whales and dolphins off shore. I also went for a swim on a beach there, even though the lifeguard said the water was ‘bloody cold’. Yeah right. In the evening I went to check out Fredrik’s place close to the city, and we went out for some food and beer in Chinatown afterwards.

On Saturday I stayed in the city and caught some more of the film festival programme; saw a collection of shorts, and also Ken Loach’s film The Navigators, which I higly recommend. Later Fredrik and I went to the regular cinemas to see Blade II, which must be the worst movie I’ve seen in a long time. Action and really sickening violence continuously, interrupted only by bad attempts at humor and romance. My only excuse for even seeing it is so I can talk badly about it I guess…

I’ll be adding the last pictures from the trip as soon as they are developed. Too bad I don’t have a digital camera, that would make things so much easier.
