I Went with Atle and Kurt yesterday to see Low at the Corner Hotel. Their song “Just Like Christmas” is in the closing credits of the Norwegian movie Mongoland, but other than that, I didn’t know much about the band.

Although they never played the christmas song it still was a good concert – they have some wonderful melodies, and sound a bit like another favorite band of mine, Yo La Tengo. Afterwards we had some more beers, and came home about 4.30 in the morning, so I’m a bit ‘low’ today as well…

Went to see David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive at the Rivoli. The theatre was nearly empty, and no wonder – this is a pretty weird movie. The plot starts out basic enough, but the last 1/2 hour is just plain confusing. But you just have to expect that from Lynch, I guess…

And I still liked it, it’s beautifully shot, has some really creepy scenes, and I also think he wants to say something about the true face of Hollywood, the one that lies below all the glitz and glamour.

Pictures from the trip to eastern Victoria have been put on the Gallery pages. The reason they are so late in coming is I’ve had some problems with uploading files with my bloody slow dial-up connection, but it was fixed after a phonecall this morning.

Just too bad the fix reduced my connection speed even more, so now I’m down to just 44.0 Kbps with a 56k modem… grrr.

I’ve moved into a new place – just a small room with barely enough space for my bed, desk and a small table. It’s been recently renovated and has large windows with lots of natural light, so I’m quite happy with it. The rent is not bad (aus. $130 a week), and it’s only a short walk to all the shops at Camberwell Junction, and close to Swinburne University.

My new address, for those interested, is 13/6 Mayston St., Hawthorn East VIC 3123.

I’ve signed up with the aussie ISP Froggy, but only a 56k modem line will take some time getting used to, after having had the luxury of a cable connection for the last year.
